Suitable for modelling enthusiasts aged 12 and over, this Level 4 kit is an appealing challenge, especially for those who enjoy gluing and painting.
This kit is ideal for advanced modellers (level 4) who want to further develop their attention to detail and craftsmanship. It particularly appeals to collectors and history buffs who are enthusiastic about specific chapters of aviation history.
Special features:
The P-Series is a special collection in model making that focuses on aircraft and vehicles that only existed on the drawing board. This series highlights the “what if” scenarios of aviation history and offers collectors and aviation enthusiasts an exciting insight into alternative designs. The AR555, as part of this series, epitomises a visionary design from the mid-20th century and expresses the progressive ideas and technical dreams of the era. The P-Series – AR555 model kit is therefore more than just a hobby project; it is a key to a world full of innovations and unrealised visions in aviation history.
Arado Ar.555 was a project of a German strategic bomber in a flying wing configuration from the Second World War. The propulsion was to be provided by 6 BMW-003 jet engines. The plane was supposed to reach speed – according to various design variants – from 860 to 1020 km / h. The load capacity of the bombs was to reach 4,000 kilograms.
The Arado Ar.555 project was commissioned by the Ministry of Aviation, which wanted to obtain a strategic bomber capable of attacking targets in the United States from bases in Germany and occupied France (the so-called Amerikabomber). The design work was carried out at the Arado Flugzeugwerke plant, which relatively quickly adopted the concept of a flying wing and wanted to use jet engines in the target machine. In total, as many as 11 concepts of this aircraft were created at the Arado plant, which differed from each other mainly in the number of engines used. The Arado Ar.555 I project with six BMW 003 engines was considered the most successful. The machine, however, never entered production – moreover, the prototype was not tested and the whole project was canceled in December 1944.
