he M4 Sherman medium tank was the main tank of the United States during the Second World War. It was mass produced and formed the backbone of the United States’ armoured forces at the time. Several versions were produced. Production of the M4A3E8 versions began in late 1944. The M4A3E8, nicknamed the “Easy Eight”, received several upgrades that improved the tank’s effectiveness. The vehicle was equipped with the 76mm M1 high velocity gun and a new horizontal suspension system (HVSS) that provided smoother driving stability and increased speed. The “Easy Eight” took part in the final phase of the Second Lt. Col. Creighton Abrams tanks were called Thunderbolts. He took part in battles himself and led direct at the frontline.
